Travel ban protesters hypocrisy on refugees
When Donald Trump signed an executive order placing a 90 day travel ban on 7 'countries of concern' identified by Obama's government as presenting a high risk of terror, many protesters took to airports to protest against the travel ban.
But when it comes to it, would the protesters be willing to put their money where their mouth is and personally help a refugee? Joey Salads went to LAX and carried out a social experiment to see if the protesters would be willing to house refugees, and I'm sure the results will be of no surprise to anyone...
To summarize, here were some of the responses.
"We're looking for people either to give donations, or offer shelter."
"I have no resources. Sorry."
"Would you let any stay at your place of residence?"
"I'm not able to do that."
"How many refugees would you be willing to hold?"
"I mean I don't have a couch..."
"You would just have to provide a bed for them, which a couch would be suitable, and then support them with food and water."
"I don't know that I can commit to that."
"You're not willing to shelter any? That's like our top thing so I'm trying to push that."
"I'm a single female living by myself, so I'm also apprehensive, but I would like to be on the email list."
"You'll let a refugee live with you until legislation is passed?"
"Ah, I have a small house. I don't have room for that."
As you can see, none of the protesters were willing to offer shelter to a refugee.
