How to report GoFundMe campaign for accused leaker 'Reality Winner'.
Prosecutors have revealed that Reality Winner, the woman accused of leaking classified information, once wrote in her notebook that she wanted 'to burn the White House down', and travel to Afghanistan and pledge her allegiance to the Taliban.1
Despite this, a GoFundMe campaign has been set up to raise funds for her.
GoFundMe's terms specifically forbid the defense or support of anyone alleged to be involved in criminal activity, so the campaign should be removed from the GoFundMe website. At the time of writing the campaign is still active on the GoFundMe website, but if enough people report it then hopefully GoFundMe will be forced to take action.
You can report the campaign by following the step-by-step guide outlined below:
1) First, go to the 'GoFundMe Contact Us' page:
GoFundMe Contact Page
2) Now select the following options:
'I have a question about fraud, trust and safety.'
'When should I report a campaign?'
And then click 'I still need help'.
3) Once the new page loads, enter your details, then for the page url enter the following:
https://www.gofundme.com/2d9rnm64
In response to the questions, select:
'No, I do not know the Campaign Organizer.'
For 'relationship to the campaign' enter whatever you want, but I entered 'Concerned citizen'.
In response to the remaining questions, select:
'I am an individual concerned about this campaign.'
'The campaign violates GoFundMe's Terms and Conditions.'
There isn't a specific response relating to criminal activity for the final question, so I entered:
'Campaign includes factually incorrect information.'
You can enter whatever message you like when reporting the campaign, but here's an example message:
"Term 12 of GoFundMe's terms forbids 'the defense or support of anyone alleged to be involved in criminal activity.' Reality Winner wrote that she wanted to 'burn the White House down' and pledged her allegiance to the Taliban. She has been alleged to be involved in criminal activity."
Hit enter, then confirm you're not a robot, then click 'Send your message'.
You will see the following thank you message.
"Thank you!
One of our Trust and Safety agents will be reviewing your inquiry and will respond if they have any further questions. Thank you for helping to keep GoFundMe a safe place to give!"
Once again, at the time of writing the campaign has not been removed from the GoFundMe website, but if enough people report it then hopefully GoFundme will be forced to take notice.

As a reminder, GoFundMe take 5% + 2.9% + $0.30 from every donation. If considering a fund raising campaign, always research a number of websites to see which is the best option for your circumstances. Always use the website which charges the lowest fees, to ensure that as much of the funds raised go to your chosen cause as possible.
