President Trump declares war on human trafficking.
President Trump has made ending human trafficking a priority, and on July 12th, 2017, the House of Representatives passed three bills aimed at assisting with that goal.

"My Administration is focused on ending the horrific practice of human trafficking, and the three bills the House of Representatives passed today are important steps forward.
Since taking office, I have met with courageous survivors, non-profit groups, and faith leaders who are devoting tremendous energy to raising awareness about human trafficking.
I am hopeful that the Senate will take up and pass these three bills as soon as possible and I look forward to my continued work with the Congress on this important issue."
Here's a brief summary of the three bills passed by the House of representatives:
H.R. 2664 is the 'Enhancing Detection of Human Trafficking Act'1, and covers training for department personnel to identify victims and perpetrators of human trafficking.
H.R. 2480 is the 'Empowering Law Enforcement to Fight Sex Trafficking Demand Act'2 and covers programs to combat human trafficking, and programs to reduce the demand for trafficked persons.
H.R. 2200 is the 'Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Reauthorization Act of 2017'3. The Act covers a long list of measures, including:
* Programs to support victims and persons vulnerable to human trafficking.
* Governmental efforts to prevent human trafficking.
* Monitoring child, forced, and slave labor.
* Fighting human trafficking abroad.
* Amendments to the Child Soldiers Prevention Act.
