The Trump Effect: Tesla and the NFL suffer financially after negativity towards President Trump and America.
Here are two examples of organizations suffering financially after being linked with negativity towards President Trump and America.
Back in June, after President Trump withdrew from the international wealth redistribution scheme known as the Paris Climate Accord, Elon Musk quit his role on the White House tech advisory council.
Elon Musk is the CEO of Tesla, and since he withdrew from his White House role, Tesla haven't fared too well. Tesla's third quarter earnings report revealed that they suffered a massive $619 million quarterly loss! This is their worst financial quarter ever!
Additionally, Tesla fired an estimated 1,200 employees after they failed to meet production targets.
As a result of the NFL protests, NFL sponsor Papa John's has began pulling all NFL-related advertisements. Nations Restaurant News said the pizza giant decided to walk-away from the league due to “negative consumer sentiment” associated with the NFL.
As a result of its sponsorship of the NFL, Papa John's also suffered, with its stock price falling to its lowest price in eight months.
John Schnatter, CEO of Papa John’s, said, “The NFL has hurt us. We are disappointed the NFL and its leadership did not resolve this.” He added, “Leadership starts at the top, and this is an example of poor leadership. NFL leadership has hurt Papa John’s shareholders.”
